    Description/Notes: Pg.26 (The world of Kanhailal): - Kanhailal and his wife Savitri had confronted the political insurgency and unrest of Manipur. Their youngest son was imprisoned for his involvement in the insurgency movement. Pg.20 - Savitri deliberately failed to indentify her son's corpse. she had prepared herself to understand the terrifying contradictions. Pg.20 - Savitri is the centre of Kanhailal's work and she contributed a lot. Pg.21 - She started acting at the age of seven. Her aunt was a profesional actress. She received her informal training in theatre in National Touring Drama Company. Pg.21 - Savitri was capable of performing four to five shows a day. She played the role of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu for at least 1000 performances between the ages of ten and twelve. Pg.21 - When Savitri met Kanhailal for the first time as a young woman she was a regular professional. They worked together for the first time in 1961 when she acted in Kanhailal's first production. This play brought both of them together. Pg.21 - In Feb. 1962 they got married. Pg.22 - Kanhailal and Savitri were invited to Delhi in 1984 to conduct a workshop with a group of sophisticated Urban Street Theatre workers. Pg.31 (1972 - 1974: - A production History) - Savitri acted as the old woman in Kanhailal's play Kabu-Keoiba based on a Manipuri Folk Tale. Pg.32 - According to Rustam Bharucha The Production of Pebet in 1975 brought national fame to Kanhailal together with Savitri. Pg.35.39 (Pebet): - Savitri performed the role of Mother Pebet in its first performance in Feb. 1975 as part of a Jatra Festival, Imphal. There have been changes in the story and the role of Savitri in subsequent performances. Pg.37 - Savitri acted as the Mother in 1982 in the performance organised by the S.N.A. in Delhi and the in other places also. Pg.38 - The author of this book had asked Savitri don't you ever feel mechanical and her reply was 'I never feel mechanical' and she proved it by her performances. Pg.38 - According to author from the presence of Savitri one learns that it is possible to resist the most painfull oppression of daily life. Pg.41-60 (Pebet: A Performance Text): - Seagull, Books Kolkata organised a performance of Pebet and this chapter contains the performance text of the same and Savitri acted as mother Pebet. There are 32 full page black and white photographs of their performance and in most of them Savitri is there as mother Pebet. Pg.69 (1975 - 1985: A Production History): - Kanhailal was the director of Kalakshetra and most of the actors of this group felt that the group was be coming too much of a Kanhailal and Savitri show they began to work with one of the leading guru's Mocrang Parba. Pg.73 (Memories of Africa): - Savitri has acted in this play as Mi, which could be either male or female, who used the ual images of a trae and a slave to evoke the sheer magnitude of struggle. Pg.75 - According to the author it could be argued that there is more suffering than rage in her perfomance. Pg.77-93 (Memoirs of Africa: A performance Text): - Performance text of this play where in Savitri has acted as Mi and 32 full page black and white photographs. Pg.95 (Beyand Memoirs): - The central character in this play 'The Human Cage', which was under production. was the woman played by Savitri.
